These windows are from Barcelona, where Canadian artist Mike Swaney now evolves his complex works in collage and gouache on paper, plaster and wood. His style in nearly a decade since departing Human Five (the collective he helped found in Vancouver) has captured significant attention, the latest a major exhibit at Mulherin + Pollard, in New York. (Below: Two of his Untitled Picassos – acrylic, glitter paint, gouache, spray paint, and flasche)
Swaney’s collaged works have been shown in Barcelona, Miami, Copenhagen, Miami, New York, Toronto and Vancouver. Below, top to bottom: Best of the Wurst (cut and found papers, pen, pencil, gouache & acrylic on paper) / Installation: Contemporary Tablets (plaster, white cement, confetti, paper, ball point pen, pencil, wire) / 100 Mile House (no detail available) / Three Hardworkers (acrylic, flasche, oil pastel, ball point pen & pencil on wallpaper).

I love Mike’s use of multimedia!
When I lived in Vancouver, I’d go up north to visit a friend who lived in the district of 100 Mile House. http://www.100milehouse.com/
I always felt like drawing and painting when I went there.
I’ve always had a romantic notion of what it would be like there, because of the name of the place. Never made it yet. Should really put it on my bucket list.
