Haute Couture and the Madonna Bra

Fashionistas who wear stripes in the mode of Jean Paul Gaultier‘s famous sailor-ware get 50 per cent off at the landmark retrospective on the French designer at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.  It’s been on only a month but the fashion-as-art collection is getting rave reviews.  From Gaultier’s first cone bra for Madonna’s Blonde Ambition tour to a fussy, peach tutu for First Wife of France Carla Bruni, reviewers find the 30 years of haute couture, sketches, video and accoutrements seductive.  Gaultier  is a “contemporary artist whose work  goes beyond fashion,” the museum says.  No kidding.  More about the exhibition here.
