This is a novel design development. These chairs by Italian fashion house Marni are constructed by ex-prisoners in Colombia in woven PVC threads on metal frames, part of a social rehabilitation project.
They’re part of this year’s Salone del Mobile, the famed Milan design fair.
Proceeds from the 100 chairs ($260-590) go to a Milan-based support program for the children of imprisoned mothers. There’s a slideshow on Blouin ArtInfo, here.
