Will Kurtz turns newspaper into ordinary New Yorkers going about their daily tasks. The former landscape architect sculpts over wood and wire to reflect characters he captures surreptitiously on his iPhone around New York.
Earlier this year, he enlarged his following with an exhibition at Mike Weiss Gallery called Extra F**king Ordinary. The characters ranged from street people to children to New Yorkers walking their dogs.

I totally understand that comment, and agree it’s a challenging set of works. For certain.

There quite freaky, almost as if they would move when your not looking! But I think they are great!! Great colours they remind me of a Sylvain Chomet animation.

Thanks for that. I wasn’t familiar with Sylain Chomet, so I went and looked. Great comparison.

Phenomenal. The trio in the second photo look real, as if they’re in costume or disguise to blend into the exhibit.

That’s true, and some of the others are equally lifelike, as if they’re just in costume. Thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts.

Yes. I know what you mean. The close-up of the woman with the long hair took me a bit aback. But the work is quite fascinating, and so colorful.
