Marthy Nasato’s intriguing work is part of the 13th Juried Emerging Sculptors Exhibition later this month, sponsored by the Sculptors Society of Canada, an event which also includes the ceramic figures of Magdolene Dykstra, featured on The Art Junkie this spring. Nasato says she strives to reflect human emotions in her sculptures. She is best known for her acrobats, and other figurative versions of the human form.

The figures are wonderful, but it’s the penguins that stir the greatest emotion, at least in me. Such happiness conveyed!

I know what you mean. The contrast between her minimalist acrobats and the big animalistic style penguins is so interesting. Different techniques, too. Thanks.
