For Canada Day: Flags & A Playlist

Toronto artist James Lahey describes his flag series Made in Canada as a love letter to family and friends. We’ve all seen that beautiful flag waving exactly as he’s captured it, a great image to celebrate Canada Day this weekend.

For Canada Day, the anniversary of July 1, 1867, when we became a country, here are a couple of other posts from the archive that also capture the spirit of the holiday.

Brandy Saturley – Canadian Symbols, here.

Joyce Wieland, Oh Canada in lips, here.

And finally, I put this  Canada Day playlist together to celebrate songs about Canada and by iconic Canadian musicians. And because, well, when else are we going to dig in to Stompin Tom or the Arrogant Worms. Lots of music for the car, your picnic or your earbuds here.
