How illustrator Carlotta Klee beats the blank page
Are you sometimes immobilized by the blank page? Carlotta Kleeโs sketchbook exercises are simple and flexible activities that are motivations to take pen or brush in hand. Sheโs a talented illustrator.
So, have a closer look at this Berlin-based atist’s approach. Below: Cakes, made from blobs. See this Instagram reel explaining it. (She also runs a “Lazy Sketchbook” club here.)
๐จput the phone down and start a sketchbook๐จ PEAR & OWL was week no 24 of โด๏ธ Lazy Sketchbook Club โด๏ธ ( my free, low-pressure drawing club for all skill levels that you can join over on my Patre0n linked in my profile) To be very honest, I am trying to convince myself more than anything to put my phone down bc my screen time is out of control. I feel myself getting sucked into scrolling for hours and I donโt have the mental strength to resist. I have time limits and even deleted the apps countless times to no avail. Itโs so lovely to be able to connect with people over love of drawing and to be able to help people get back into art. And honestly itโs a dopamine rush to see a video do well! At the same time now that I am somewhat successful on here I feel the constant need to keep that going. It also means I am actively participating in keeping other people addicted to their phones, the very thing I am trying to quit. Not sure thereโs a solution but I do want to invite you to join me on Patre0n because it feels like a more healthy ans sustainable way to engage with you for me at the moment. Letโs cut our screen time together? ๐โค๏ธ #lazysketchbookclub#drawing#howtodraw#learntodraw#analogbag
