Quick Hits: Joni Mitchell’s Drawings

Singer Joni Mitchell is releasing a collection of her early lyrics and drawings, created in 1971, originally in an edition of only 100 copies given as gifts to friends. The re-issue will make the more than 30 original artworks, plus poetry and lyrics, available to the public for the first time. (Above – Mitchell in 2018, Getty Images)

“The lively, full-colour watercolour paintings depict a superb array of landscapes, still-lifes, portraits of friends, self portraits, innovative abstractions and more,” the publisher of the book Houghton Mifflin Harcourt said.

Morning Glory on the Vine: Early Songs and Drawings by Joni Mitchell, will be available the fall of 2019.  See a huge selection of drawings by decade on Joni Mitchell’s website, here.

    • Yep, as it says in the post, fall 2019. Seems a long way off to be beating the bushes for something everyone will want, but I’m looking forward to it as well. Maybe it’s timed for Christmas presents, as her original was as a Christmas gift.
