Maryline Lemaitre’s mixed media collage works are detailed combinations of whimsy and commentary.

Lemaitre was born in France and lived in Asia for nine years before moving to Canada in 2001.

Her paintings are part of the Cirque du Soleil collection and many corporate and private collections in the US, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai.

In her paintings, she accumulates layers of materials, then glues, scratches, and flattens. These elements are then re-visited in large brush strokes or with old credit cards until she achieves the density that is her signature.

It is an intuitive process inspired by a picture, a pattern, some words or a special piece of old original writing which could be the key to define a theme, and begin a series – Maryline Lemaitre
