Quick Hits: ‘Shedding’

New Brunswick artist KC Wilcox collects trash like tin cans and discarded fireworks from Tin Can Beach in Saint John as the first step in her sculptural environmental art. In this series called ‘Shedding,” she coats the items in layers of liquid latex, which peels away when dry, leaving a floppy mould.

“This series draws attention to the transformation of things into waste and the destabilizing effect waste has on the natural world,” Wilcox says.
