Quick Hits – AGO to Expand

A $35-million gift from art collector Dani Reiss, Chairman and CEO of Canada Goose, has launched an expansion that will see the Art Gallery of Ontario add 40,000 new square feet of gallery space across five floors.

The AGO announced the project today, noting that more than 20,000 artworks added to the gallery’s collection in the past decade will now have room to be displayed.

“Outside, the expansion will quietly complement the AGO’s existing built environment, respecting the scale of the surrounding neighbourhood,” the gallery said in a news release. “Inside, more than 13 new galleries will be dynamic enough to display the works of today’s great modern and contemporary artists.”
