Castelgar B.C. describes itself as the sculpture capital of Canada, with the community’s annual Sculpture Walk a growing tourist attraction. Take a stroll through some of the creative public entries.

Viewers are encouraged to vote for their favourite sculpture via ballot, and the winner of The Peopleโs Choice Award is purchased for permanent display in the City. (Here are some of the festival’s People’s Choice winners through the years.)

Have a look through the festival’s online archives of sculptures, with more info when the image is clicked.

Wonderful.
I have an inquiry for you. When I was living in Ottawa at the end of the sixties, I associated with a young Canadian sculptor named Ron Campbell. Ron, at that point, sculpted flowing and organic shapes in sumac wood – visually very arresting. He established a gallery in Ottawa called the Creative Foundation.
The period after I returned to the States from Canada was pretty confusing, and I lost track of him. Being that you follow the Canadian art scene, I was wondering if you’d ever heard of him?
Ron offered me my first gallery appearance and much encouragement as a carver.
That’s such an interesting search with unfortunately no real results. I have not heard of an artist with that name. I only see this bare bones entry in the Canadian government Artists in Canada directory – and there’s no certainty it’s the Ron Campbell you’re looking for ( https://app.pch.gc.ca/application/aac-aic/artiste_detailler_ind-artist_detail_ind.app?rID=2613&fID=2&lang=en&qlang=en&pID=1&anm=Campbell,+Ron&sort=AM_ASC&ps=50&pID1=824&ps1=10&ansf=TAM&sort1=ascending )
I did find an obituary for an artist with that name in Ottawa, which might be the one. Sorry I don’t have any other suggestions on where you might look. (obit link here: https://www.basicfunerals.ca/obituaries/ronald-campbell)
I’d like to thank you for the effort you made on my behalf. I think the obituary is for the Ron I knew.
Of course, you’re welcome.
