What started out as simple pencil drawings in school, making sketches of friends, or capturing expressions from people in magazines, evolved into Diana Creasy-Funk’s stunning style of portraiture.

“Her work still has graphite areas showing, where she initially sketches her subject, but a watered-down painting technique fleshes out the work a little bit further, carefully bringing them to an ethereal place,” says Sopa Fine Arts, which represents Creasy-Funk. ย

Her occasional comments attached to her works are worth a read. For example, about Billy Goat below (acrylic on canvas, 48 x 48 in) she notes : โDefinitely wanted a kind of private school/ACDC Malcolm Young vibe. I Love ACDC. Really wanted the attitude to show here.”

Given that Creasy-Funk “adores the distressed look of weather worn surfaces like concrete, stucco, bricks, paint, etc,” the melding of the background in Jujube, below, makes sense.

There is also a considerable focus on high fashion in her work.
