It’s Pride Month in June and Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ festival – the largest in North America – is experiencing a different environment this year as sponsors drop out or reduce funds. Organizers say it’s connected to a backlash against diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs in the U.S.
The photo above (my all-time favourite fom the Toronto festival, 2004, K.Job photographer) has always represented to me the best of the vibrant and diverse celebrations of this city’s LGBTQ+ community. The festival continues but see this report from CBC about sponsors who just won’t participate.

Great shot. The US is trying to kill everything, all events, all people, everything. We have an out of control republican party led by a moron. Pretty much says it all.
I have lots of sympathy for your country!
Orange nightmare. Thank you. It’s absolutely insane.
I’m taking my wife to her first pride event here in Vermont! She has never been!
Have a great time. (I noticed Toronto Pride has a section called If This is Your First Pride, which means they’re still growing, I hope. The City of Toronto, all the stores, all the buses and subways etc. dive in to this festival, it’s very welcoming and fun)
