Radical Paddle: City Design for Outdoors

Contact Voyaging Co. has launched a collection of Canadian-made paddles that take a contemporary look at traditional voyaging paddles. The first series is styled on the semaphore navigational signalling system. The company says its goal is to bring city style to the outdoors, and outdoor spirit to urban design.

The Toronto company says there’s been strong response, partly because of the unusual colors, but also because the paddles can be used to spell out names or initials at cottages. The  international semaphore system uses maritime signal flags that represent the alphabet.
