NOTE: See a 2023 update on this artist and her suits here.

Toronto artist Sam Shuter is fascinated by the suit. In bold colors, influenced by street art, stenciling and graffiti, she paints the strong lines of power dressing without revealing the faces of the men behind them.

“[The suit] has represented something for decades; power, productivity, strength, economic prosperity, and hard work,” the 25-year-old former film production worker says. Her larger than life art stems from her appreciation for the traditional elements of men’s fashion; a colorful necktie, a beautiful Italian boot.  Her graphic style, and bright color palette, are powerfully unconventional.

Shuter, also known as Sammo, has already attracted the attention of bespoke tailors like Toronto’s Harry Rosen, who featured her in his latest opening in a live on-site painting commissioned for the store.
