The Remarkable ‘Show of Hands’

hands-topAbout 1,000 remarkable images of the human hand netted Sotheby’s just over $10 million last month, exceeding estimates by more than $1 million.  Moving and powerful, the works exploring the theme of the hand came from one of the world’s most significant privately owned photograph collections, put together by the philanthropist and collector Henry M. Buhl. The majority of the proceeds will benefit The Buhl Foundation. (More on the video below)

  1. Pretty fascinating collection. I love the idea of a theme, though I would be hard pressed to stick by just that. He probably has lots of other artwork as well. Neat foundation program too.
