In the wake of news there is yet another ice storm coming, this sketch of the tropical coast of New Zealand’s north island was just the thing. Artist Murray Dewhurst posted it on UrbanSketchers, a site you should browse if you aren’t already.

This is PERFECT! We have an ice storm in Chicago too. I was just thinking how nice it would be to go to a tropical place, warm weather, go on a cruise around an island, et. Beautiful drawings.
Yes, he has the knack of hard lines and soft finish, a type of sketch I personally love. (That storm we’re getting, it’s coming from your area!)
