William Bouguereau’s La Jeunesse de Bacchus (The Youth of Bacchus) has been in the French painter’s Paris studio since 1884, and has previously left only three times for exhibition. Now, the painting is going to New York, to be offered by the direct descendants of Bouguereau at Sotheby’s. But exactly how do you ship a 20-foot, 135-year-old painting mounted within a 1,300 pound frame? And what makes this painting so special anyway? Watch.
So interesting. Thank you.
