Flash back to the late 1960s, when Edward Gorey (mid-century illustrator of the macabre) and author Peter F. Neumeyer had a 13-month exchange of letters.

The letters were sent as they collaborated on two childrenโ€™s books written by Neumeyer and illustrated by Gorey.

Gorey, who influenced a generation of illustrators and filmmakers like Tim Burton, died in 2000. Neumeyer published the letters in 2011, in a book called Floating Worlds.
