Canadian artist Mariko Paterson is renowned internationally for her exuberant ceramics, which are currently on display in an installation called Vanity Faire, Vanity Fair, part of an Art Gallery of Alberta group show.

Patersonโ€™s vanityย is littered with paraphernalia moulded in clay โ€“ a lush red lipstick, a hairbrush, even a perpetually lit cigarette propped in an ashtray. Gleaming under the vanityโ€™s lights and reflected in its mirror are two ceramic dogs and three large urnsย decorated with everything from red wine and pizza slices to digital screens and skeletal faces.

Paterson has exhibited widely and her work has fetched high end prices at sales internationally, such as at the PIASA Auction House exhibition last year in Paris (here). She has been in extensive group and solo shows annually, including at the Clay Art Center in Portchester, New York, the Red Lodge Clay Center Gallery in Red Lodge, Montanaand the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis, California (more on her CV here)
