Glass sculptor Dale Chihuly’s new exhibition center beneath Seattle’s Space Needle has generated exceptional color images over the last 10 days. The 45,000-square-foot Garden and Glass Museum is a permanent home for the work of the controversial American artist. You can read more about the museum here and reviews are all over the web. I just thought the photos surrounding the opening were worth having a look.

Wow! Love that ceiling, what a wonderful museum. Cheers.
I think his ceilings must be millions of people’s favorite.
I LOVE Chihuly! I posted on this when “he” was in Grand Rapids at the Frederick Meijer Gardens. The first time I saw his work I sat on the floor in the hall under one of those lily-pad ceilings and didn’t want to leave. What a wonderful experience — if you have the chance to see his stuff live, DO NOT PASS IT UP!!!
Great to hear. Thank you. That settles it. If I’m going to see Chihuly live, it’s got to be at this new center in Seattle, where I’ve also never been. Done (some day)
Chihuly AND Seattle? What are you waiting for?
I know, It was the thought of sitting under one of the lilly-pad ceilings that you described.
Glad I could help! Get thee hence.

Can’t beat a nice bit of Chihuly!
Found this over on Global Art Junkie – thanks for posting!
The reblog looks good, thank you.
Wow, wow, WOW!!! I wish I could see this. Just W O W !
I think you must like it!! Good to hear.
Gorgeous. Oh that ceiling! !
Yes, the colors are so intense.
I never tire of his work, it’s magic.
It sounds like you’ve seen them live. I want to do that. (I want to do so many of the artists I post. But even if I only get to see a fraction, that’s pretty good)
A whole gallery devoted to glass art! The colour, the whimsy – I’m just blown away! Don’t reply – I just had to WOW.
This exhibit was at the Boston MFA this time last year. It caused quite a stir– huge lines to get into the MFA at all times of day, every day of the week. Definitely one of the best exhibits in recent memory. It’s very beautiful.
I can imagine the lines would be long for one of his top exhibits. This one is now on my list. Thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts.
