Go Your Own Way

Who knows what lies ahead when you’re on a road trip? This series of paintings flows from the journeys of Vancouver artist Pat Service, recollecting the freedom of the open road, and getting lost and finding the way.

Go Your Own Way is on at Oeno Gallery through March 6. The lyrical acrylic works celebrate the artist’s recollection of the joyful experience of driving, an experience she says she most enjoys if she is by herself. Above: Passing Blue

“Bold lines in yellow define the landscape, mountains in the distance, the road curving past country fields.” the gallery says of Red Route (above). “Over the years many road trips down the trans-Canada highway have provided Service with rich mental pictures of the simple beauty of the Canadian landscape.”
