The weather is still mild enough where I live to eat comfortably from food trucks for a while yet, such a pleasure. These artists captured the experience, or the vehicle, so well.
From Urban Sketchers, Northampton, Massachusetts – This artist found it a beautiful town for sketching but “unfortunately, by the time I’d finished drawing the truck, they were out of lobster rolls.”
“This is a food truck that is usually located near the Vancouver Art Gallery. Awesome fried chicken,” says artist, Won Kang.

a further thought: this post reminds me of the lovely sketches & narrative style of Emma Fitzgerald in her “Hand Drawn Vancouver” book (Random House, 2020) — do you know it?
Yes indeed I know it. Great point – very similar style to a couple of today’s sketches, but a whole book! I am always astonished at what artists can accomplish. I love this! and I appreciate your reference to food truck seasonality, where you live — now that I’m in Vancouver, they’re year-round but I remember in Toronto welcoming the return of the food trucks the way I’d welcome first snow drops & daffs… There is a lot that’s good about seasonality
