These atmospheric paintings by B.C.-based Herald Nix reveal shifts in lighting, weather, season, and mood over time from essentially one perspective at Shuswap Lake near Kamloops, British Columbia.

Identified only by Month, Day and Year, the intimate landscapes in this series are an endless exploration of this lake’s beauty. They are on exhibition at Wil Aballe in Vancouver through July 5, 2025. Below, four sequential days of paintings April 1 through April 4, 2023 (originals here)

Herald Nix is based in Salmon Arm, B.C. He attended the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art + Design) and has exhibited in Canada, United States and the UK.
