This is the re-launch of Sketchbook Saturday, with a visit to one of the series’ favourite artists. Anna Rastorgueva is a Moscow-based commercial illustrator gifted with abundant creativity, especially in her sketchbooks.

A grid of hand-painted illustrations featuring various subjects like animals, objects, and abstract designs in a muted color palette.

She created these tiny, unique works for the 2025 Inktober. They are all in the burnt sienna toned palette Rastorgueva has been using exclusively on Instagram since at least 2022 – also a demonstration of her colour creativity.

But Rastorgueva has thousands of fans for her normally colorful sketch artistry on other sites too, including Flickr (here) and Behance (here), along with multiple sites in the Russian Federation. Her perspective is stunning.

Here are a couple of posts where her work has been showcased on Canadian Art Junkie.
