Digital photographer Dean West is known for his intricate and highly staged photographs that take everyday occurrences beyond the realm of natural reality.
The Alison Milne Gallery says West’s meticulously choreographed scenes, character studies and atmospheric landscapes are “extraordinary in their tonal range, digital clarity, and artistic vision.”

I’m a bit confused … are they simply digital photographs or are they paintings? They’re fascinating and wonderful in either case, but I can’t tell!

Probably could have been clearer when I wrote it. They’re digital photographs, but the name of the exhibition is “Painted” photographs because of the colors and painterly style.
