Montreal artist Nina Cherney creates exuberant abstracted landscapes and still lifes.

Cherney says her paintings are “less invested in resemblance than in the quality of connection. . .the pulse of morning, the humming of the trees, natureโs clever flourishing: each captures a kind of inner weather.”

Her color combinations and brush strokes create rich, visual music.

My work is playful and vibrant and I revel in outrageous and unexpected combinations. The edges formed by meeting layers not only trace a topography of the self, but also mark the process, the presence of my hand at the canvas – Nina Cherney

Cherney has a degree in Fine Arts from Concordia University and has been painting and exhibiting professionally for over 10 years. Her work is found in many private and public collections in Canada, the United States and Brazil.
