This extensive exhibition at the McCord Stewart Museum celebrates the practice of street photography in Montreal, from the 19th century.

There are 400-plus images (featured in 30 groups of work) captured by photographers who, each in their own way, endeavoured to document Montrealโs social fabric.

The images on view occasionally reveal the cityโs beauty but more often convey its complexity, contradictions, diversity and comedy, the museum says.

Pounding the Pavement: Montreal Street Photography runs through Oct 26, 2025. More info here.
