What better place to sketch than while you’re camping.
This idyllic image and the accompanying poem just make you want to breathe in forest air. On Flickr, here.

Nina Khashchina was accepted for a unique artist residency in the Alaska wilderness. She sketched from sea kayaks, hiked on remote trails, and had visual encounters with bears and salmon. Her full sketches on Flickr, here.

Water camping in Germany, here.

From a Twitter post by @ephemeracity: A short trip back in time to rural Western France in July 1954 with the help of a small sketchbook kept by a young chap on a motorcycle camping trip.

This detailed, three-sketch narrative is “Camping Down Under,” by Murray Dewhurst, a graphic designer and illustrator in Auckland, New Zealand. Kind of a perfect triptych.

“This is the view from our campsite – from right at the back of the campground – with stunning views over the estuary, a spectacular eroding volcanic cone . . . and the Pacific Ocean towards the Tutukaka coast.”

“The footbridge connecting South and North Pataua (a road doesn’t actually do it) was a great source of entertainment; helping the kids catch lots of fish off it, and ‘bombing’ off it.”

“The view behind our camp – a neat old tree house, more Pukekos and a Land Rover with friends’ surf ski and paddle boards on the racks. “

This is so much fun! larkyu & quick-handed
And it’s also lots of fun finding these. Not an experienced camper myself btw. But would love to camp more.
Love it !
Kind of makes you want to just get out into the woods, right? Thanks for your comment.
Indeed !
These take me back to my 1969 frolicking detour across Canada. The car got totaled in the Algonquin Provincial Park, and we camped there for about six weeks until the insurance company sent the money. Did not make it to Vancouver that time around, but had a wonderful time in the woods. somewhere there are watercolors from that time.
Great memories, I’m sure. Love the description “frolicking” although I bet six weeks in Algonquin – while restful – was a bit much. (Maybe not). Thanks for sharing that.
